Anything to watch out for?
Moliets is known as something of an oasis amongst the pines of western Europe's largest forest. It's basically a big playground! Activities include: surfing, cycling, golf, tennis, adventure parc, horse-riding, kayaking, etc etc. Many places of interest are within an hour's drive. It's an ideal destination for an active and varied sea-side holiday.
A very good quality & well-equipped holiday villa
Villa de la Lette is a good-sized villa (133m2), a modern single-storey property with double-height living room, on a small estate of privately-owned villas 500m from Chenes-Liege beach.
The décor is contemporary, tasteful; the standard of equipment and furnishings is very good. Huge south-facing windows overlooking the pool terrace and golf course give lovely views and lots of interior light.
Layout: the interior comprises a central, spacious, double-height living area with open-plan kitchen & dining space, with 'wings' on either side each containing a double & a twin bedroom.
The modern kitchen is separated by a breakfast bar, and is well-equipped, including dishwasher, oven & hob, microwave, etc. (Please see details opposite.) The dining space is between the kitchen & sitting area, and includes a smart table & chairs for 8 people.
The sitting area contains two sofas, chairs, coffee table, TV, music system. (There is also wifi throughout.) It is a lovely place to sit and enjoy the views over the pool & golf course. Sliding doors open from here on to the terrace. The room has electric blinds for night-time, or to keep the inside temperature cool on very hot days.
To right of living area is a corridor with separate WC, and:
There is also access to the garage from here, via a small laundry room with washing machine and dryer.
The wing on the left of the living room comprises:
Again both rooms look out onto terrace and pool area.
All bedrooms have bedside tables and built in wardrobes.
The decked terrace is on a level with the house and runs the width of the property. There is a garden table and chairs for 8, and four sun-loungers. The pool is 8m x 4m, protected by a rolling electric hardcover, and can be heated (50 EUR per week supplement). The garden slopes away from the far edge of the terrace, almost enough to give an infinity pool effect, though it isn't quite. The view of the golf course and forest is lovely.
At the front the house is set back a little from the road, with is a small area of garden and covered parking space.
2 doubles bedrooms (both 160 cm beds), two twin rooms (90 cm beds)
shared shower room, ensuite bathroom, ensuite shower room
8 x 4m pool, protected by hard electric cover.
No pets, sorry.

It's an easy 10 minute walk west to the beach, or the same distance to the golf club & tennis courts. Moliets is known as something of an oasis amongst the endless pines of western Europe's largest forest. It's basically a big playground! Here's a selection of some the activities you can pursue in the resort:
• Golf course & training centre - one of continental Europe's Top 50 courses
• Surfing - championship surf conditions plus a local surf club for tuition
• Land-yachting - the quickest way to cover several kms of sandy beach!
• Kite-surfing - windsurfing and surfing combined
• Sailing - sailing school at lac de Léon (7 kms)
• Canoeing / kayaking - take the Courant d'Huchet from lac de Léon to the ocean
• Horse-riding - equestrian centre at Domaine de la Prade
• Tennis - several all-weather & clay courts at the golf club
• Cycling - 12 kms of safe and shady forest cycle tracks
• Nature trails - several tracks criss-crossing the dunes, forests and around the lakes
• Windsurfing - at the ocean or at lac de Léon
• Adrenaline Park - includes quad biking & karting
• Children's farm where the kids can see animals of the region including the Gascony pig!
• Scenic flights to get a real sense of the Cote Landaise geography
• Cross-country skiing on pine needles!
Moliets Golf Club was designed by Robert Trent Jones in 1988, and is ranked in Continental Europe's Top 50 and 9th best course in France. The course (c. 7000 yards, par 72) takes in parkland (yes, you've guessed it - a pine forest!) and links-style golf - the seaside holes are stunning. There is also a 9 hole course and golf training centre.
Green fees for the championship course start at around €55 depending on the season, although the purchase of a Golf Pass is recommended - this gives you discounted access to five local courses.
The local town of Léon has a distinctly laid-back feel to it. It has a couple of restaurants, shops, supermarkets and a tourist office. There are plenty of local markets to enjoy including Léon (every day from mid June to mid Sep and Tuesday all year round); Moliets-Plage (Monday and Thursday all year round and Saturday in July and August); and Dax (Saturday and Sunday).
To sample a pastime particular to the south west, visit Vieux-Boucau to watch Course Landaise (a less gory version of bull-fighting) and the Basque-invented pelota, the fastest ball-game in the world. If you’d like to learn more about the Landaise culture and traditions, try the eco-museum at nearby Sabres.View More Moliets Rentals
Service: Thank you for all your help
Product: A few issues, pool wasn't really heated, pool man came to service it again on our 2nd last day and after that it worked much better. Dishwasher needs looking at, had to wash dishes by hand at the end. No hot water when we arrived, although AA agent quickly resolved the issue.
Service Comment: Thank you for your feedback. We will follow-up the dishwasher issue to make sure it's fixed. Glad you enjoyed the villa and Moliets! Justin
Service: Did their best to sort out the various problems - but refused to compensate us for loss of our pool for 4 days when it broke....
Product: Villa had some basic issues (blocked plumbing, broken dishwasher, pool that became unusable for 4 days, no blinds in some rooms that needed them). The owners need to invest some money in improving the property - particularly the pool system which was worryingly bad.
Service Comment: Thank you for the feedback Simon. We were sorry about these issues, the local agent fixed them as quickly as they could but I appreciate the disruption must have been frustrating. We had hoped you would take up the discounted booking we offered this summer, I recall the villa you liked wasn't available for the dates you wanted but the offer still stands for 2015. Alex Spalding
