What makes Villa la Piste a great holiday rental
The demand for villas in Hossegor is far greater than the supply so we are delighted to offer Villa la Piste. This 3 bedroom Landais chalet villa is in a residential district of Capbreton and it's great attraction is the short walk to both beaches and amenities, in addition to having a private pool. Local shops and restaurants - seafood is a speciality in Capbreton - are close to hand. For a special occasion or just to make your holiday even more relaxing, why not book one of our bespoke catering packages as part of your stay at this villa.
Villa la Piste has already proved to be a popular choice for families in the summer and for surfers and golfers throughout the year.
Anything to watch out for?
It's an authentic working fishing port with a bustling sea-front and marina. There's a lively seafood market, excellent seafood restaurants (the locals eat in Capbreton rather than its more illustrious neighbour, Hossegor) and a good selection of shops. It is a welcome contrast to many of the 'purpose-built' resorts around the French coastline.
Bright and 'summery chalet villa with pool and just 300m from beach.
"la Piste" is a very well-equipped and appointed holiday home and one of our most popular.
Villa la Piste is a traditionally designed Landais chalet with its low roof, whitewashed walls, terracotta tiled floors and exposed beams. The house has undergone significant renovation and improvement over the last 5 years and is now a fantastic holiday home (and family home for the owner outside of the season).
As is typical of a Landais house, the majority of accommodation is on the ground floor, dominated by a cosy living area or séjour. In this case, the living room is double-height with a vaulted ceiling. A large fireplace houses a wood-burning stove and facilities also include dvd player and satellite TV. There is plenty of comfortable seating and a separate dining area with table for 6 persons. The living room provides access to the south facing terrace via French doors.
There is an 'inside verandah' just off the living room which picks up the morning sun but is intended as a separate area to relax any time of day. It also has a quality sofa-bed for an extra person, if needed.
The spacious and well-equipped kitchen has all essential appliances including washing machine, dishwasher, American-style fridge freezer and range cooker. Patio doors lead from the kitchen to the pool terrace.
There is a separate toilet with washbasin, just inside the front door.
Two of the three bedrooms are on the ground floor:
Master bedroom with access to the pool terrace via sliding doors
Twin bedroom with window to pool
The master bedroom has a spacious en-suite shower room (with WC). The guests who use the twin bedroom are typically kids who can share their parents en-suite. Alternatively there is a bathroom upstairs.
Bedroom 3 is upstairs. This is a lovely double room with views over the pool, through the pines to the sand dunes. This is beach-living!
On the upper level there is also a family bathroom (bath, shower fitting and WC) with low ceiling
The villa is terraced on two sides (south- and west-facing) and there is ample space for sitting outside and for enjoying meals (garden furniture provided) at all times of day, whether it's sun or shade you want. BBQ-plancha (ideal for grilling fish - the local speciality). The west-facing terrace has a covered area with relaxing views of the sand dunes.
The swimming pool (9m x 5m, max depth 1.5m) is surrounded by a fence with lockable gate. The pool benefits from Roman steps making it easier for younger kids to access the water. There is a cover to use at night (it helps retain the heat in the water). Solar powered shower.
Additional outdoor shower next to the front door and BBQ area for showering off after the beach.
The overall plot is quite generous - 1300m2 - and there's ample parking too.
2x doubles & 1x twin & sofa-bed
Ensuite shower room/WC & upstairs bathroom/WC, separate WC with handbasin, plus outdoor pool/beach shower; additional ground floor W.C.
Private pool (unheated). Fenced off plus pool cover. 9x5 metres, max depth 1.5m. Steps into the pool
2x cots available
No smokers. Pets are considered
The villa is located on a residential road in Capbreton and is set back from the street. The local beach "la Piste", is less than 5 minutes' walk over the dunes. Similarly, local shops and restaurants can be found in 5-10 minutes on foot. This is a perfect place if you don't want to use the car too much. Capbreton adjoins Hossegor to the south and whilst the two districts each have their own centre, they are really only divided by the marina and harbour. The resorts are found on the southern Landes coast about 40 kms north of Biarritz. Very handily, the airport and motorway and within easy reach.
Nearest village / town: Capbreton
Nearest beach: Capbreton 300m - safer bathing for young kids than at Hossegor
Boulangerie: Capbreton 500m at the sea-front
Restaurant: Capbreton 500m at the sea-front. Lots of seafood options
Market: Weekly market in Capbreton
The local region of Sud Landes is typical Aquitaine - endless stretches of sandy beaches buffeted by the Atlantic ocean, vast pine forests punctuated by the occasional lake and criss-crossed by a network of cycle trails.
Capbreton and Hossegor are neighbouring seaside towns which between them offer an appealing contrast. Hossegor is the more famous, largely through its surfing heritage. It's a 'feelgood' place offering boutique shopping, great bars and restaurants, world-famous surfing beaches, casino, and a lovely golf course and a beautiful lake for safe bathing.
Capbreton lives in the shadow of Hossegor but it's the place the locals prefer for eating out and for beaches. It's definitely the more authentic of the two, largely because of its fishing port and daily fish market. In fact, the town thrived in the 19th century as a whaling port and this sea-faring heritage is still very much apparent today.
It also has a charming town centre and market. Capbreton is just more French than Hossegor, if you see what we mean. It remains, admirably, something of a French (and Spanish) secret.
Capbreton sea-front is a bustling place, day and evening. You can walk all the way along the marina and sea-front. The jetty, known locally as l'estacade, offers excellent coastal views. There's normally a few locals here trying to catch a fish for supper. It makes for great viewing!
Like most of the south west coast, Capbreton-Hossegor is something of an outdoor playground. Take your pick from surfing, canoeing, sailing, diving, fishing, cycling, tennis, horse-riding and golf to name a few. Golfers will enjoy the local course, the 1930s-built Golf d’Hossegor. The traditional club house is also a delight. A short drive up the road is Seignosse, a water and forest monster of a course ranked in Continental Europe’s Top 50. There are other great courses within 45 minutes drive including Moliets and several around Biarritz.
Capbreton regularly holds major surfing competitions; the whole Aquitaine coast is a perfect venue for surfers but at Capbreton the presence of an offshore hollow in the sea-bed gives the waves here that extra edge. If you don't fancy a go yourself, just sit on the sea-front with a drink of your choice and watch the surfers ride to shore.
Cyclists can enjoy the many safe forest tracks that connect between the towns along the coast. Sailing enthusiasts should head for the Capbreton Marina. Being so close to the Pays Basque border, sporting life also includes the legendary game of pelote; you can watch a game at the fronton in Hossegor.View More Hossegor Rentals
