Villa Ami is located in a quiet residential quarter in the village of Seignosse Bourg, some 5 kms from the ocean. The immediate surroundings provide a quiet retreat after the hustle & bustle of the nearby coast. The village centre is a short walk for the daily boulangerie run (small supermarket, bar & restaurant too) and the village also offers an excellent tennis centre. A short drive or cycle ride is all it takes to reach the lakes (Etang Blanc or Lac Marine d'Hossegor), the highly-regarded golf course of Seignosse, and the vast beaches of Seignosse Ocean. All-in-all it's a superb location for a family seaside holiday.
Nearest village / town: Seignosse Bourg 700m
Nearest beach: Seignosse Ocean 7km
Boulangerie: Seignosse Bourg 700m
Restaurant: Seignosse Bourg 700m
Market: Hossegor weekly market 6km. Summer markets at Seignosse Ocean
A small Landais village just inland from the Atlantic coast. There's a boulangerie & mini-supermarket in the village centre, a restaurant and a big tennis centre.
Golf de Seignosse
A water and forest monster of a course ranked in Continental Europe's Top 50! Very welcoming clubhouse with a restaurant and bar.
Here are the famous surf beaches les Estagnots, Bourdaines and le Penon. It's a mostly residential area with a number of holiday homes and apartments. The architecture is not especially attractive but it's the lovely sandy coastline that draws visitors. Popular with surfers and families, the beaches are superb. There are seasonal shops, a bit of nightlife and a Water Park.
Hossegor & Capbreton
The local 'Sud Landes' region is pure Aquitaine - endless stretches of sandy beaches buffeted by the Atlantic ocean, vast pine forests punctuated by the occasional lake and criss-crossed by a network of cycle trails. We love it!
Capbreton and Hossegor are neighbouring seaside towns which between them offer an appealing contrast. Hossegor is the more famous, largely through its surfing heritage. It's a 'feelgood' place offering boutique shopping, great bars and restaurants, world-famous surfing beaches, casino, and a lovely golf course and a beautiful lake for safe bathing and sailing.
Capbreton lives in the shadow of Hossegor but it's the place the locals prefer for eating out and for beaches. It's definitely the more authentic of the two, largely because of its fishing port and daily fish market. In fact, the town thrived in the 19th century as a whaling port and this sea-faring heritage is still very much apparent today. It also has a charming town centre and market.
Capbreton sea-front is a bustling place, day and evening. You can walk all the way along the marina and sea-front. The jetty, known locally as l'estacade, offers excellent coastal views. There's normally a few locals here trying to catch a fish for supper. It makes for great viewing!
Like most of the south west coast, Capbreton-Hossegor is something of an outdoor playground. Take your pick from surfing, superb golf, canoeing, sailing, diving, fishing, cycling, tennis, horse-riding and more.
Service: Traditionally outstanding.
Product: Minor things (such as a lot of bugs and dry leaves everywhere from the tree in backyard) but accumulating them lows the rating.
Product Comment: Hello & thank you for writing this feedback. It is a very nice house. I know that particular tree you mention! It provides some valuable shade but yes, it does shed a lot of leaves.
Service: Really well organised, was able to give us advice regarding the 'petrol crisis' which wasn't really as exaggerated as the media was letting on.
Product: We couldn't believe how beautiful the appartment was when we walked in! Clean, modern and had everything we could have wanted including a few grocery essentials to help us settle in.
Service Comment: Thank you so much for writing. By coincidence I dropped by the house last week myself. I think the owners have done an excellent job with this new-build project. Really pleased you enjoyed the Hossegor area too.
Service: Excellent in all respects. Really quick response to questions and helpful information.
Product: Fabulous modern house. Well equipped for our culinary minded family. Lovely pool.
Service Comment: Really pleased you enjoyed your return to the area! You were very unlucky with the weather. I won't tell you how good it was last week when I was there... Justin
Service: Very pleased and satisfied with the professionalism of Alternative Aquitaine, especially the security of booking and deposits. Recent negative media reports concerning other Agencies who had failed their clients in this regard leaving them open to scams, had made me doubtful about booking any French Villa Holiday. However, there were no such worries about Alternative Aquitaine and would use this Agency again.
Product: Would have rated this "excellent" except that unfortunately the next door neighbour was building another house and the noise of lorries and building /banging sawing etc affected our outdoor enjoyment of the beautiful pool. The villa itself was modern, very bright, very clean. Large well equipped kitchen/ diner/sitting room with glass sliding wall overlooking garden and pool. Outside were comfortable loungers for relaxing, and table tennis. There were three generations in our party, and all felt comfortable with the excellent facilities provided.
Service Comment: Thank you so much for your feedback and kind comments. It was very frustrating to hear about the works next-door, we would always have warned you of such a problem had we known about it, I'm very sorry. We're very pleased you other aspects of the house and area. Alex
