What makes Maison Liposse a great holiday rental

If you want be near to the coast and also enjoy a peaceful place to stay, Maison Liposse is ideal. The house is set-up well for a young family and we feel it is an excellent value rental for a family holiday at the seaside.

Best for:
Owned by a family with two young boys, the house works really well for young families. Families with older kids will appreciate the easy access to the busy & 'cool' surf resorts of Hossegor and Seignosse (and the adults will enjoy retreating back to the peaceful house). Golfers are spolit for choice in this area - September and October are good months for golf holidays.

Suitability for:

  • Toddlers - ideal: enclosed garden and fenced off 'splash' pool
  • Teenagers - they'll love Hossegor & Seignosse. Walk to tennis centre
  • Reduced mobility - ground floor bedroom (pull-out sofa bed) and bathroom

Anything to watch out for?
The property has a 'splash' pool, best suited for younger kids.

Why Hossegor?
An established surfing resort with a very 'cool' vibe. The resort offers great beaches, good shopping, a lovely lagoon and plenty of activities (surf, golf, tennis, cycling, sailing & more).

The Local Area

Seignosse-Bourg
A small Landais village just inland from the Atlantic coast. There's a boulangerie in the village centre and a couple of restaurants to choose from. It's great bonus is a big tennis centre in the village. There won't be much to keep you in the village night after night, but that's not the point. It's perfectly situated to enjoy the coast and Hossegor but without being in the centre of the action.

Golf de Seignosse
A water and forest monster of a course ranked in Continental Europe's Top 50! Very welcoming clubhouse with a restaurant and bar (serving meals midday-5pm each day) with fabulous views of the course from the terrace. The course hotel serves excellent, more formal à la carte meals in the evening.

Seignosse Plages
4kms to the west are the continuous beaches les Estagnots, Bourdaines and le Penon. It's a mostly residential area with a number of holiday homes and apartments. The architecture is not especially attractive but it's the lovely sandy coastline that draws visitors. Popular with surfers and families, the beaches are superb. There are seasonal shops, a bit of nightlife and a Water Park.

Hossegor & Capbreton
The local region of Sud Landes is typical Aquitaine - endless stretches of sandy beaches buffeted by the Atlantic ocean, vast pine forests punctuated by the occasional lake and criss-crossed by a network of cycle trails.

Capbreton and Hossegor are neighbouring seaside towns which between them offer an appealing contrast. Hossegor is the more famous, largely through its surfing heritage. It's a 'feelgood' place offering boutique shopping, great bars and restaurants, world-famous surfing beaches, casino, and a lovely golf course and a beautiful lake for safe bathing and sailing.

Capbreton lives in the shadow of Hossegor but it's the place the locals prefer for eating out and for beaches. It's definitely the more authentic of the two, largely because of its fishing port and daily fish market. In fact, the town thrived in the 19th century as a whaling port and this sea-faring heritage is still very much apparent today.

It also has a charming town centre and market. Capbreton is just more French than Hossegor, if you see what we mean. It remains, admirably, something of a French (and Spanish) secret.

Capbreton sea-front is a bustling place, day and evening. You can walk all the way along the marina and sea-front. The jetty, known locally as l'estacade, offers excellent coastal views. There are normally a few locals here trying to catch a fish for supper. - it makes for great viewing!

Like most of the south west coast, Capbreton-Hossegor is something of an outdoor playground. Take your pick from surfing, canoeing, sailing, diving, fishing, cycling, tennis, horse-riding and golf to name a few. Golfers will enjoy the local course, the 1930s-built Golf d’Hossegor. The traditional club house is also a delight. A short drive up the road is the infamous Golf de Seignosse. There are other great courses within 45 minutes drive including Moliets and several around Biarritz.

The whole Aquitaine coast is a perfect venue for surfers but at the Golfe de Capbreton the presence of an offshore hollow in the sea-bed gives the waves here that extra edge. If you don't fancy a go yourself, just sit on the sea-front with a drink of your choice and watch the surfers ride to shore.

Cyclists can enjoy the many safe forest tracks that connect between the towns along the coast. Sailing enthusiasts should head for the Capbreton Marina. Being so close to the Pays Basque border, sporting life also includes the legendary game of pelote; you can watch a game at the fronton in Hossegor.

Service: AA booing service was all very easy and simple. The information about the property and area were accurate and really helpful. We had contact with the house manager in France (Angie) if we'd needed help with the house.

Product: This is a great house for families. Our kids loved the pool and trampoline. We enjoyed the hammock and the space. It was clean and in a lovely quiet residential location. The decor of the house is simple and pleasant. There were toys and games for kids to use, DVD player and Netflix. We could have done with more mugs though and the towels and main bedroom bedding was a little tired. The property is slightly too far to cycle to the beach but the 10min drive was well worth it and our kids enjoyed 3 afternoons of surf lessons. I'd recommend this house to families.

On 06-Sep-2017 we responded:

Product Comment: Thank you for some great feedback - we think Maison Liposse is well-equipped for families and it sounds like it was just the job for you.  It's really helpful to get the comments about the bedding, towels & mugs too thanks - easy things to fix and we're following up with the owner now.  Thanks again :)

Service: The service we received from the company was perfect especially as we had to change the size of the property we required and the dates of our holiday. They could not be more helpful.

Product: The accommodation and location in the quiet village of Seignosse-Bourg was perfect. The house was extremely well equipped, clean and child friendly. We loved it.

Service: Good service from AA so far but would like to hear back from them about my comments on the a cleanliness of the accommodation. The description of the holiday house needs updating. No English TV or Netflix

Product: Spent 4 hours cleaning the property on arrival. Will I receive any compensation for this? Also not sure if bed sheets were clean, so washed these. Additionally, could not use pool on arrival which was a shame as good weather on arrival then rain followed for a few days. Pool was usable by end of second day. Once cleaned property had a comfortable stay. Impressed with outdoor space. Very private and ideal for small children. Very peaceful village. Neighbours very friendly.

On 14-Jun-2016 we responded:

Service Comment: Many thanks for your honest feedback - we are really sorry to hear about the cleaning issue on arrival. We weren't made aware of this until we received your feedback form and a cleaner could have been dispatched to the house immediately had we known. As for the pool, we have spoken to the owner to discover the chlorine level was too high - an unfortunate mistake. With regards to the TV, we were sorry to learn that the Apple TV is being activated at the house next week. This was the first rental of the season and there have been some changes to the housekeeping team - we are very sorry that you experienced the teething problems related to this. We are thrilled that you enjoyed your stay at the house despite these setbacks - if you decide to return to the area, we would be happy to apply a discount as a gesture. Bethan

Service: Excellent customer service and advice, and booking instructions. Payment systems a bit fiddly to use.

Product: The house was clean and comfortable. The pool was also great. However the oven did not work (we mentioned this when leaving as we had only discovered it the night before, and it seemed the manager was already aware there was a problem with it). Also the kitchen is not very well equipped - barely enough crockery and dishes to make a meal for 4. Also lacking some basic items like a proper tin opener.

On 03-Sep-2014 we responded:

Service Comment: Thanks for your comments. We will speak to the owner straight-away about the oven. Regarding the kitchen items, everything was set up for the start of the season but it sounds as though replacements are now needed; again we will relay this to the owner to address asap. Thank you for highlighting this. Justin
