What makes Maison Hapchot a great holiday rental

Maison Hapchot is a beautifully renovated landaise style house, decorated in a French beach chic style.  It is set on the outskirts of a traditional French village, yet only a short drive to the beach.  The owners have a young child and have organised the house to be extremely child friendly and a parent's ideal holiday home at the same time.  For a special occasion or just to make your holiday even more relaxing, why not book one of our bespoke catering packages as part of your stay at this villa.

Best for:

Young families looking for tranquility, only a short drive from the beaches and a perfect base to explore the pays basque, the landes pine forests and the seaside resorts of Hossegor and Capbreton. Grandparents, too, will enjoy this typical French village.

Suitability for:

  • Toddlers - ideal for younger children with enclosed gardens, excellent play equipment including swings, a slide and wooden playhouse and a heated pool with electric cover plus wrist band alarms.  Equipment for young children and babies is available on request including a high chair, cot, stair gates, baby listener, bath seat and toys.
  • Teenagers - the village is walkable and the surf beaches and resort of Hossegor a short drive
  • Reduced Mobility - the house is all on one level, with the exception of the mezzanine

Anything to look out for?

The mezzanine is open to the downstairs living area and is accessed by an open tread staircase, which is protected by a stairgate.

An established surfing resort with a very 'cool' vibe. The resort offers great beaches, good shopping, a lovely lagoon and plenty of activities (surf, golf, tennis, cycling, sailing & more). There's also a wealth of restaurants (neighbouring Capbreton is best for seafood) and oysters are farmed in the lagoon - you can do tastings.

Beautifully renovated landaise style house in tranquil village close to the ocean

Maison Hapchot has been renovated with taste to provide all the modern comforts, whilst maintaining some of the more traditional beams etc.  The house has a lovely beach chic feel, with soft greys, wood and beach scenes.

The house sits on a large plot, which is fully enclosed and laid to grass and completely safe for toddlers. Total inside floor area comes to approx. 130m2.

The interior is light, bright and spacious with a modern kitchen, open plan living/dining area overlooking the outdoor terrace and the pool.  There is ample seating and the dining area opens out onto a covered outdoor sitting room.

Double bedroom - the first double is off the sitting room and has a window overlooking the pool and built-in wardrobes.

Twin bedroom - the twin room is off the corridor at the end of the sitting room and overlooks the back garden.  There is a built-in wardrobe and room for a travel cot.

2nd double bedroom - another double with built-in wardrobes and a desk with chair.

Family bathroom - the large, main bathroom has a bath with overhead shower, heated towel rail and lots of space.

There is a separate WC next to the bathroom.

Mezzanine - there is another double bed with an ensuite shower room and WC

The pool has recently been built and is surrounded by non-slip tiles and has a solar heated shower for before/after swimming.  It is protected by an electric cover and an alarm when open and the owners leave a child's wrist band which is an additional pool protection.

The covered terrace runs the length of the pool and provides an outdoor eating area, protected from the midday sun or the occasional rainy day!

There's plenty of grassy space to run around as well as a lovely wooden childrens' play set, with a slide, swings, playhouse and sand pit.

2 double bedrooms (one with 160cm bed, other with 140cm bed), 1 twin room (2 x 90cm beds) with cot available, 1 double upstairs mezzanine (140 cm)

The Local Area

Small village just a short drive from the popular resort of Hossegor.

The village has a handy boulangerie, tabac and a couple of restaurants.  There is also a petrol station, supermarket, post office, pharmacy and tennis courts.

Two larger villages nearby are St Vincent de Tyrosse which has a Course Landaise venue as well as a good selection of shops. Also, St Geours de Maremne which has an excellent swimming pool complex (25m pool, counter-current and wave pool, kids' pool, saunas & hammam).

Hossegor, Capbreton & Seignosse
The local region of Sud Landes is typical Aquitaine - endless stretches of sandy eaches buffeted by the Atlantic ocean, vast pine forests punctuated by the occasional lake and criss-crossed by a network of cycle trails.

Capbreton and Hossegor are neighbouring seaside towns which between them offer an appealing contrast. Hossegor is the more famous, largely through its surfing pedigree. It's a 'feelgood' place offering boutique shopping, great bars and restaurants, world-amous surfing beaches, casino, a lovely golf course and a beautiful lagoon for safe bathing and sailing.

Capbreton lives in the shadow of Hossegor but it's the place the locals prefer for eating out and quieter beaches. It's definitely the more authentic of the two, largely because of its fishing port and daily fish market. In fact, the town thrived in the 19th century as a whaling port and this sea-faring heritage is still very much apparent today. It also boasts a modern marina, a charming town centre and market and remains, admirably, something of a French (and Spanish) secret.

Seignosse comprises three distinct parts: Seignosse OceanGolf de Seignosse and Seignosse Bourg. The resort incorporates the fabulous beaches les Estagnots, Bourdaines and le Penon. It's a mostly residential area with a number of holiday homes and apartments. Popular with surfers and families, the beaches are superb. There are seasonal shops, a bit of nightlife and a Water Park. Golf de Seignosse is monster of a course ranked in Continental Europe’s Top 50! Very welcoming clubhouse with a restaurant and bar with fabulous views of the course from the terrace. In the Bourg (village) you will find an excellent tennis centre and useful everyday shops.

Service: The organisation re booking this holiday was very straight forward and easy. I was helped by kind and friendly and helpful staff whenever I spoke to someone at Alternative Aquitaine or email infact.

Product: The house is perfect for a family holiday. It had every convenience one would need for a holiday from baby kit ie travel cot, high chair to swings and a slide in the garden. There's plenty of space outside for children to run around in. Inside the house is also as good. There is a TV which was just used to watch CDs but that was useful in the evenings if necessary. Its tastefully decorated and we would happily stay again. Marteen who greeted us was extremely kind and friendly and helpful.

On 07-Sep-2018 we responded:

Product Comment: Yes, this villa works particularly well for young families. The English owners have young children and the villa is very much set-up with kids' safety & enjoyment in mind - and a relaxing break for Mums & Dads! The Property Manager Maarten is a great asset too. Thank you for your kind feedback.
