Bidart is a very pretty Basque village with town hall, fronton & restaurants. Distinctive Basque architecture, fabulous coastline and the Pyrenees in the background. The beach offers excellent surfing and body-boarding too. Chic, cosmopolitan Biarritz is just 4 kms away.
Villa Paradis has the very distinct look of French architect, Delphine Carrère, with its white-washed cubes and timber cladding. It is set on a quiet Bidart road, mid-way between Bidart and Biarritz. A full concierge service is available too, for those who want to truly relax!
The front door opens into a large entrance hall, with cloakroom on the right and downstairs suite on the left.
The living space overlooks the back garden, fully enclosed and with mature trees ensuring privacy from the neighbours. This flows into the dining area and into the kitchen. The dining area also overlooks the back garden and the large terrace with outdoor table for dining al fresco. The kitchen is very well equipped with all mod-cons and overlooks the pool to the side of the house. There is an outdoor lounge area next to the pool with plancha and table tennis table.
Downstairs suite: This is a very large double room with lots of cupboard space, a TV and ensuite shower room adapted for reduced mobility and plenty of room to manoeuvre. There are double doors opening into the garden.
Upstairs : The stairs are open tread and lead up to the landing, off which there is a balcony with ocean views in the distance. There are a further 4 bedrooms upstairs, 3 doubles and 1 twin, all with ensuite shower rooms, TVs, plenty of storage space and all of a very good size. The double to the front has ocean views and doors onto the terrace. The two bedrooms overlooking the garden have their own balconies. The largest of the upstairs bedrooms has a huge picture window with sea views and the biggest ensuite in the house.
The back garden is all laid to lawn and great for younger children to play and get away from the sun!

Paradise is located in a quiet residential area situated mid-way between Biarritz and Bidart.
Bidart itself is an attractive Basque seaside village with lovely traditional feel and great beach. Plenty of restaurants, including lovely place on the beach itself.
Nearest village / town: Bidart
Nearest beach: Biarritz 100 marches beach 200m, Bidart central beach 1200m
Boulangerie: Bidart - 500m
Restaurant: Biarritz 500m, Bidart centre 750m
Market: Bidart - Saturday morning market + Thursday night market in July & August
Bidart is a charming Basque village-by-the-sea - a church, a fronton (an outdoor court for playing Pelota, similar to squash), a little sleepy but pretty and characterful. It sits on the hill above the Atlantic, on the edge of a cliff, at the highest point on the Basque coastline. There is a little supermarket, bakery, cafés, newsagents, gift shops and a couple of bars and restaurants.
Its cliff-top chapel Ste-Madeleine is remarkable - you won't see many smaller churches anywhere in the world. The views from the coast path are fantastic - there aren't many places where you see mountains meet the ocean.
Neighbouring Guéthary is a similar treasure, a traditional fishing port, large villas and small houses rise in tiers from the seafront.
There are plenty of life-guarded beaches to choose between - almost all offering surf equipment hire and tuition on the excellent waves. (A private surf guide is available - please enquire.) Bidart is often a venue for surf competitions. Out in front the Plage du Centre has volleyball and pétanque courts. South of Bidart, Plage de l'Uhabia offers summer activities and games for children. Plage de Parlementia offers access to the Phare de Koskenia (lighthouse) from Guéthary.
There are plenty of good golfing options nearby. We recommend buying a Biarritz golf pass, which entitles you to play at Arcangues, Bayonne, Biarritz, Ilbarritz, Moliets or Seignosse. Nearby Ilbarritz provides spectacular ocean-side golf (9 holes, par 32). In 1998 it was chosen as the most beautiful nine holes in France.
Beautiful coastal walks link the coves from Bidart through Guéthary and St-Jean-de-Luz, all the way to Hendaye on the edge of Spain. Nearby there is also horse-riding through forests, or along the beach.
Festivals: June to September see festivals and events all along this stretch of coast: horse-riding & surfing competitions, basque culture (especially the Fete de Bayonne in August), art, jazz, wine, beer, film and dance.
Markets: there's Biarritz's fabulous Les Halles covered market (every day), antiques markets in Anglet and Bayonne, plus Bidart's own Saturday morning market in the village centre.
Restaurants: the cuisine in this corner of France & Spain is some of Europe's finest. We can guide you on where to eat.
After the wilderness years of the 1980s, Biarritz is again a thriving, contemporary seaside destination. Celebrities and sports stars are flooding back to live in the region, turning their back on the Côte d'Azur. It mixes an affluent elderly population with a steady flow of well-dressed surfers plus a sprinkling of super-rich jetsetters on top. A compact and stylish town, Biarritz really does have something for everyone...famous beaches, museums, fine restaurants, boutiques, casino, golf courses, horse-riding and the south west's famous spa and thalassotherapy centres.
