More and more, our clients are looking for a genuine holiday experience which allows them to explore something new or simply take the time to enjoy activities that they already love, but in a different environment.
One of the reasons we love the Aquitaine region is the diversity of activities on offer, especially during the warmer months.
From cycling to surfing, sampling seafood to sipping local wine, these are authentic experiences that can be enjoyed as some indulgent 'me time', à deux, with friends and family or with some friendly locals.
The real joy is that most of these activities form an authentic part of the local lifestyle and culture, why not join in a yoga class taken in French or discuss the latest crop with a local wine producer?
Our owners would be delighted to accommodate your activity requests to make your holiday extra special. We have put together a collection of our most popular activities in the region, with the properties that specialise in providing them; we're sure that there will be something to take your fancy!
Living in Hossegor, France, legendary surfer and board shaper Kevin has devoted his life to producing surfboards which are a blend of passion, creativity, old school techniques and modern ideas. The crown of his range is the world-renowned "Plonka".
Whether you are a complete novice or a seasoned surfer, Kevin can provide surf lessons tailored to you. Villa des Chais is the perfect base where you can chill after a hard day's surfing. Kevin can provide catering, kit and all the ingredients to make this a fantastic holiday for a group or families.
Several generations of the Rives family live and work at the stunning Château la Gontrie vineyard where Grand Cru wines are made and tastings are encouraged!
Guests are shown around the working vineyard, the processes of wine making are explained and the charming owner will describe the history and development of wine making in this world-renowned wine-producing location. Five different types of wine are produced here and guests are shown how to taste them and understand their differences - you will never look at a supermarket bottle in the same way again!
Another property which is perfectly placed for making the most of the vineyards is Clos de Chinon which is an elegant maison bourgeoise close to St Emilion. The owners offer "vendange" trips during the grape picking in September and October and can take you out for a day trip taking in several vineyards, wine tasting, a picnic in the heart of the countryside - a really indulgent way to enjoy the best that this area has to offer!
Bordeaux has traditionally been considered to set the benchmark for red wine and produces arguably the finest red wines in the world. The region produces more that 800 million bottles a year! This summer Bordeaux is enjoying even more of the spotlight than usual with the opening of the fabulous new Cité du Vin which promises an absolute immersion in wine for oenophiles in an architect-designed venue in the heart of Bordeaux.
Our friends at Bay Fitness run a very popular Hossegor Reboot Retreat during September each year.
