Why Seignosse-Hossegor?

An established surfing 'mecca' with a very 'cool' vibe, offering great beaches, good shopping, a lovely lagoon and plenty of activities (surf, golf, tennis, cycling, sailing & more).

Accommodation

Villa Les Fougères is set in a quiet residential street, just a few minutes walk from Les Bourdaines beach, with a secluded garden surrounded by the pine trees so typical of les Landes.  The house is equi-distance between the beach and Seignosse golf course.

The main entrance to the house is up a short staircase, to the side of the house, and opens directly into the very well-equipped kitchen and open plan dining area.  This flows into the sitting room, with double doors leading out to the terrace for alfresco dining or soaking up the sun in the garden.  There is a second smaller sitting/music room, with piano and television (with Apple TV), allowing the kids and grown-ups their own separate space.

On this floor, there is a small double room (140cm), a separate WC and the largest of the 3 bathrooms, with a bath and shower.

The central staircase leads down to the lower ground floor to a further 2 good sized double bedrooms (140cm and 180cm which can be made into a twin room), another separate WC and a shower room.  In the garage on this level, is the washing machine and dryer, an additional 'post beach/surf' shower and a separate entrance (ideal for teenagers looking for a little independance!).

The master bedroom (160cm) is on the first floor of the house, along with another smaller double (140) and both bedrooms have doors opening out onto a balcony that overlooks the garden.  There is another separate WC and further shower room.

The garden is very private, surrounded by pines and ideal for relaxing in the sun, reading a book in the shade of one of the pine or enjoying a family BBQ.  Kids and big kids alike, will enjoy the ping pong table and for those who prefer a bigger racket, the house has free access to a shared tennis court, co-owned by Villa Les Fougères and other local houses, in really good condition and under-used, even in August!

The Local Area

The Local Area: Hossegor (3 km)

Seignosse Ocean
The resort incorporating the fabulous beaches les Estagnots, Bourdaines and le Penon. It's a mostly residential area with a number of holiday homes and apartments. Popular with surfers and families, the beaches are superb. There are seasonal shops, a bit of nightlife and a Water Park.

Golf de Seignosse
A water and forest monster of a course ranked in Continental Europe’s Top 50! Very welcoming clubhouse with a restaurant and bar with fabulous views of the course from the terrace.

Hossegor & Capbreton
The local region of Sud Landes is typical Aquitaine - endless stretches of sandy eaches buffeted by the Atlantic ocean, vast pine forests punctuated by the occasional lake and criss-crossed by a network of cycle trails.

Capbreton and Hossegor are neighbouring seaside towns which between them offer an appealing contrast. Hossegor is the more famous, largely through its surfing pedigree. It's a 'feelgood' place offering boutique shopping, great bars and restaurants, world-amous surfing beaches, casino, a lovely golf course and a beautiful lagoon for safe bathing and sailing.

Capbreton lives in the shadow of Hossegor but it's the place the locals prefer for eating out and quieter beaches. It's definitely the more authentic of the two, largely because of its fishing port and daily fish market. In fact, the town thrived in the 19th century as a whaling port and this sea-faring heritage is still very much apparent today. It also boasts a modern marina, a charming town centre and market and remains, admirably, something of a French (and Spanish) secret.
