What makes Villa des Gemmeurs a great holiday rental

Villa des Gemmeurs is an attractive, modern villa with pool, a short walk from the village of Messanges and a 10 minutes by cycle trail from the lovely, unspoilt Messanges beach.

Best for:
Families and friends looking for an easy, relaxing villa holiday with the many activities and places to explore this area offers, if you want them.

Suitability for:

• Toddlers - open-tread staircase and proximity of pool to the living room means this is not a suitable property for groups with toddlers
• Teenagers - local beach and amenities close by, lots to do in the area
• Reduced mobility - downstairs bedrooms & bathrooms

Why Moliets-Messanges?
This area is something of an oasis amongst the endless pines of western Europe's largest forest. It's basically a big playground! Activities include: surfing, cycling, golf, tennis, adventure parc, horse-riding, kayaking, etc etc. Many places of interest are within an hour's drive. It's an ideal destination for an active and varied sea-side holiday.

Accommodation

An attractive, modern villa with pool, 10 minutes by cycle trail from the lovely, unspoilt Messanges beach.

Inside:

Ground floor: The ground floor living space is open plan with a sitting room at one end, dining area in the middle and large kitchen at the other end.
The sitting room features two 3-seater settees and a cosy log burner, the dining area has a table & chairs seating 6. The kitchen has all mod cons including a dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, and fridge freezer.

Off the living area there is one double bedroom with ensuite shower room, and one twin room with a separate shower room. Both shower rooms have toilets.

Upstairs: Stairs lead up from the dining area to a galleried landing, two further bedrooms  and a bathroom. Bedroom 3 has twin beds, Bedroom 4 is a double; the bathroom has a bath with a hand shower.

All bedrooms have fitted cupboards with good storage & hanging space. The décor and furnishings throughout are modern, comfortable and practical for holidays.

Equipment and facilities include: English TV channels (but no French ones), DVD player, stereo with some CDs and a few books.

Outside:

Pool & garden: French windows lead from the lounge to the terrace with table & chairs seating 8, plus parasol. The pool is 9m x 4.5m x 1.5m deep, unheated, protected by a removable security cover. The pool is open late May until September. The proximity of the pool to the house means it is not suitable for families with young children (non-swimmers). A good-sized lawn extends beyond the pool and around the size of the house.
Outside facilities include a swing ball game, boules, gas BBQ, parasol and 2 pool loungers.

In the entrance, there is off-street parking for 3 cars.

In all Villa des Gemmeurs is perfect for an active family wanting a beach holiday in a lovely part of France.

The Local Area: Messanges

Messanges is a small Landes village with bakery, two restaurants, a surf shop, two public tennis courts (recently resurfaced) and a small supermarket. There is also one restaurant overlooking the beach.

The ocean is 3 kms away by cycle trail. The lovely Léon-to-Hossegor cycle trail passes under 100m from the house. Four golf courses are located within 20 minutes drive. Surf schools can be found in Moliets & Vieux Boucau; there is sailing & windsurfing in Léon, Vieux-Boucau & Soustons, kayaking from Léon to Huchet (recommended). A horse-riding centre is located between Moliets & Messanges, an Adventure Parc in Moliets, Aqua Parc in Seignosse... there's never a shortage of things to do!

As well as Moliets-Plage 5 kms away, the bigger resorts of Seignosse-Hossegor-Capbreton are 15-20 kms, whilst sea-side glamour is an easy half-day trip to Biarritz (approx. 50 kms), or over the Spanish border in San Sebastien (100 kms).

For local colour & culture, there is the course landaise arena at Vieux Boucau (for a non-gory version of bull-fighting), the sleepy villages of the Seignanx & Gosse areas just to the south, or the under-rated historic city of Bayonne.
