A summery villa with spacious, attractive terrace and well-located for a relaxing, enjoyable holiday.
Villa Antillaise is located off a quiet residential road on the outskirts of Lacanau-Océan, close to one of the many cycle paths that take you into the town and its beaches. It has its own gated entrance, is protected by mature hedges and is situated on a slope down from the road, giving the site a lot of privacy.
The path leads to the area outside of the upper level of the house, consisting of a decked terrace (approx. 50m2) with a small sun-deck corner, plunge pool area and place for barbecue and garden table and chairs.
Inside:
From the terrace, entry is to the upper level living area via large glass sliding doors. At one end is the lounge - a light wood floor, bamboo furniture (sofa and two chairs), indoor plants and cream painted walls give this a tropical feel. The TV provided has some English-speaking satellite channels. At the other is a kitchenette (with dishwasher, oven, microwave and fridge/freezer), separated from the rest of the room by a tall breakfast bar. Next to the kitchen is a breakfast table seating 4-6.
At this level there are also two comfortable double bedrooms, plus a contemporary-designed shower room. From the living area, a short wooden staircase leads to the upper mezzanine level, a handy area for children to play out of the sun for a while, or for adults to find peace and quiet. There are two further single beds at this level.
The lower level is accessed separately around the back of the villa via the driveway. Shaded from the sun this is a cool part of the house (and darker for the same reason). There's a small living area with kitchenette in one corner (with television, fridge and two-ring hob). The two lower bedrooms (a double and a twin) run off this level. There is also a shower and wc. The standard of accommodation here is simpler and more basic than upstairs.
Outside:
Outside the villa there is private parking for 2-3 cars and a garage for bicycles and surf-boards.
Bedrooms:
4 (3x doubles, 1 x twin; further mezzanine level with 2 single beds in upper part of house)
Bathrooms:
2 (2 shower rooms, each with toilet)
Style of property:
Modern villa, split into two separately accessible levels each with two bedrooms
Pool:
Above ground plunge pool, 4.7m diameter x 1.2m deep, protected by gate and alarm; unheated but fully-exposed to sun. (Pool usually open late May to late September - please enquire for bookings at other times.)

The Local Area: Lacanau (3 kms)
Lacanau-Océan is the pre-eminent sea-side town of the Médoc Bleu, an area noted for a wide variety of activities and attractions:
Ocean beaches: wide, sandy Atlantic beaches are long enough that you can always find a quiet spot to yourself even in high summer just a short way away form the centre of town.
Cycling and hiking trails: over 120 kms of safe cycle tracks lead through the forests up and down this stretch of coast, from Carcans-Maubuisson north of Lacanau, all the way, ultimately, to the Pointe de Cap Ferret to the south. Several local bike hire shops.
Horse-riding: Lacanau counts two major equestrian centres each offering tuition and trails through the local forests.
Lake watersports: sailing, windsurfing, water-skiing and kayaking at the local lakes.
The local lakes are a great opportunity for whiling away the hours in tranquility, listening to the water lapping the sandy shores. The surrounding forest are perfect for picnics and rambling. The lake beach at Moutchic is popular, but Longarisse is the one the locals go to!
Surfing & body-boarding : excellent waves at Lacanau-Ocean, which every August hosts an edition of the world professional championship. Local surf clubs offer tuition for all levels and ages, plus board hire.
Golf: there are 2x 9-hole and an 18-hole course all within 4 kms.
Also available to try locally: fishing, horse-riding, tennis, go-karting quad-biking and adventure park.
