Central yet quiet location perfect for families, golfers & surfers.
What makes Villa Simon a great holiday rental
It's size, location and pool!
Hossegor villas are now in as much demand as Biarritz. "Simon" has excellent sleeping capacity and a good size pool too. The golf course and tennis courts are a short walk as are the lovely shops, surf boutiques, bars and restaurants found in the town centre.
Similarly, the lagoon can be reached easily on foot - and where you will find a beach & play area for the kids; seafood restaurants; sailing; footpaths for evening strolls or a morning run...
Best for:
A couple of families with teenagers who want the surf. Outside of school holidays it's ideal for groups of friends here for the excellent golf and/or surf.
Suitability for:
Anything to watch out for?
There is no corridor/hallway connecting the two accommodation 'wings' and to access the living areas you do need to pass through three connecting bedrooms - or simply use the French doors from each bedroom.
The villa offers a good level of facilities and equipment. The accommodation is straight-forward rather than luxurious, the bathrooms being relatively simple in common with French gites.
Why Hossegor?
An established surfing resort with a very 'cool' vibe. The resort offers great beaches, good shopping, a lovely lagoon and plenty of activities (surf, golf, tennis, cycling, sailing & more).

Family villa in central yet quiet location, with pool and excellent facilities
Built in the 1960's as a colonial style home, Villa Simon was originally constructed as two separate apartments. The current (English) owners joined them together to create an 'L' shaped villa with a veranda running the length of the property.
The villa effectively still comprises two wings: each bedroom has French doors and it's best to use these to access the living areas rather than walking through the connecting bedrooms.
Inside:
Living room which integrates dining area and small lounge, decorated in an ivory colourwash. The dining table seats up to 10 persons and there is a corner fireplace which can come in handy for low season stays. Facilities include wi-fi, TV, dvd player, vcr, cd hi-fi plus numerous videos and boardgames. The living room has two sets of French doors leading to the veranda and there's a corner sofa for relaxing.
Modern kitchen opening onto the rear courtyard. Fitted beech units and fully-equipped with all appliances including dishwasher and a proper electric oven and hob.
The washing machine-dryer, utility sink plus extra fridge are in the adjacent utility room. You'll also find cool boxes here for day-trips to the beach, lakes, etc.
Bedroom 1. Double room with access via French doors to the rear courtyard. Plenty of storage, sofa-bed and country-style French bed.
Bedroom 2. Double bedroom with French door access to the veranda and swimming pool. Wardrobe storage.
Bedrooms 1 and 2 share a family bathroom which has bath and shower fitting. There is also a separate WC.
Bedroom 3 -"Rose". Triple bedroom (3x singles) also with access to the veranda. Wardrobe storage. Large cot
Bedroom 4 - "Bleu". Children's room with 3x singles. French door access to the veranda. Wardrobe storage.
Bedroom 5. Bunk beds, again with French door access to the veranda. Wardrobe storage.
Bedrooms 3, 4 and 5 share a shower room and separate WC.
Floors are laminated or tiled.
Out-House / Bedroom 6: The summer den "out house" has twin beds, a chest of drawers, tiled floor, pine-clad ceiling and is lockable. It offers basic 'den' accommodation suitable for two older children.
At the front, next to the pool is a pool house which has in the past been used as a 7th bedroom (sofa-bed or fold-up bed) by agreement with the owners. (Please note that supplements apply to parties of more than 12 persons).
Outside:
The entrance gates lead into a driveway which curves round to the front of the property. The swimming pool is one of the first sights you see and it will be where guests spend many hours.
To the rear of the property, is a secluded courtyard bordered by shrubs and trees. There are two large patio areas (50m2 in total) with outdoor dining furniture, a BBQ and "plancha" (hot plate). This is a quiet spot for enjoying dinners outside or reading a book under the shade of the trees or the covered terrace.
The swimming pool is a good size - 10x5m - and is solar-heated to give the water a few extra degrees. There's an outdoor shower provided and the pool is protected in accordance with the new regulations.
There is parking for several cars and also a lockable hut for storing surfboards.
This villa has gas central heating and is available for rental all year round.

Residential area at the edge of the town centre; there are several neighbouring properties although it's a relatively quiet side street. Hossegor (pronounced "oz-gor") is in the Sud Landes area of south west France, not far from Biarritz. The area is dominated by its landscape of ocean, lakes and pine forests, creating one big outdoor playground! There are good transport links - the autoroute is 8 kms and this provides easy access north to Bordeaux and south to Biarritz and Spain - and a good choice of regional airports with Biarritz (approx 40 mins) being the closest.

Our Personal Highlights
The Local Area: Hossegor
The local region of Sud Landes is typical Aquitaine - endless stretches of sandy beaches buffeted by the Atlantic ocean, vast pine forests punctuated by the occasional lake and criss-crossed by a network of cycle trails.
Capbreton and Hossegor are neighbouring seaside towns which between them offer an appealing contrast. Hossegor is the more famous, largely through its surfing heritage. It's a 'feelgood' place offering boutique shopping, great bars, nightlife and restaurants, world-famous surfing beaches, casino, and a lovely golf course plus a beautiful lagoon for safe bathing.
Like most of the south west coast, the area is something of an outdoor playground. Take your pick from surfing, canoeing, sailing, diving, fishing, cycling, tennis, horse-riding and golf to name a few.
Golfers will enjoy the local course, the 1930s-built Golf d’Hossegor. The traditional club house is also a delight. A short drive up the road is Seignosse, a water and forest monster of a course ranked in Continental Europe’s Top 50. There are other great courses within 45 minutes drive including Moliets and several around Biarritz.
Hossegor regularly holds major surfing competitions; the whole Aquitaine coast is a perfect venue for surfers but here, the presence of an offshore hollow in the sea-bed gives the waves here that extra edge. If you don't fancy a go yourself, just sit on the sea-front with a drink of your choice and watch the surfers ride to shore. Surfing visitors will also want to visit the outlet centre at Soorts where the major brands have factory stores selling boards, accessories and clothing.
Cyclists can enjoy the many safe forest tracks that connect between the towns along the coast. Sailing enthusiasts should head for the marina. Being so close to the Pays Basque border, sporting life also includes the legendary game of pelote; you can watch a game at the fronton in Hossegor.
Capbreton lives in the shadow of Hossegor but it's the place the locals prefer for eating out and for beaches. It's definitely the more authentic of the two, largely because of its fishing port and daily fish market. In fact, the town thrived in the 19th century as a whaling port and this sea-faring heritage is still very much apparent today.
It also has a charming town centre and market. Capbreton is just more French than Hossegor, if you see what we mean. It remains, admirably, something of a French (and Spanish) secret.
Capbreton sea-front is a bustling place, day and evening. You can walk all the way along the marina and sea-front. The jetty, known locally as l'estacade, offers excellent coastal views. There's normally a few locals here trying to catch a fish for supper. It makes for great viewing!

Guests say it's a practical rather than luxurious house - spacious with a good pool, walkable to the town centre and lagoon and not far from the beach. Works best for families with teenagers.
