What makes Villa de la Quinta a great holiday rental

Villa de la Quinta is a very good quality five bedroom villa with secluded south-facing pool. Located amongst the pine trees near Seignosse's immaculately groomed golf course, and just 2 kms from fantastic sandy beaches. Golf, tennis, surfing, horse-riding are all available nearby. The house is well-furnished and equipped - an excellent base for a relaxing and varied summer holiday. Villa de la Quinta is lovely rental for one or two families to relax in comfort.

Best for:
Families and groups of friends wanting an active & varied holiday close to all the amenities and attraction of this corner of France. Particularly good rental for groups of golfers.

Suitability for:

  • Toddlers - cot & linen and high chair available; microwave steriliser/bottle-warmer; baby-sitting possible.
  • Teenagers - lots of actvities in this area, very good for young children or teens
  • Reduced mobility - slope & steps to front door, and some internal steps; house is mostly on one level.

Anything to watch out for?
Three of the bedrooms are more simply furnished than the rest of the house, but the overall standard remains very good. Kitchen area relatively small for size of villa.

Accommodation

Modern, very good quality villa with south-facing pool and gardens

Villa de la Quinta is a modern, good quality villa with spacious open-plan living areas for relaxed, convivial living. Fittings, furniture and equipment throughout are of a similar standard. The décor is stylish and contemporary.

Inside:
The house is constructed all on one level. A large entrance door leads to an open-plan kitchen and dining area, offering a sociable space with which to relax and eat breakfast or for pre-dinner drinks and appetizers.

The kitchen, in the corner at one end of this area, is modern and fully-equipped, including dishwasher, range with extractor, microwave, water cooler, coffee-maker, etc. Double glass doors from the kitchen open directly out onto the outdoor eating area that seats up to 10 people.

The dining area includes table and chairs seating 8 people for indoor dining; there is a large plasma screen TV on one wall (for playing dvds only). The lounge area is adjacent to the dining area with patio doors leading directly to the poolside area. The sunken lounge has two large sofas, coffee table and plasma TV.

Entertainment-wise the living areas are very well-equipped, and include DVD player, 2 plasma TVs, Sky TV, games console and iPod dock.

Sleeping:
Bedroom 1
is situated off a short corridor from the dining area, and is a large double bedroom with en-suite bathroom including deep bath and shower and doors opening directly out onto the poolside area. Bedroom 2: situated next to Bedroom 1 is a large twin room with mezzanine that can sleep two more. There is an en-suite shower room and doors out onto the poolside terrace as well. There is a separate WC in this area too.

Two further bedrooms are situated off a longer corridor leading from lounge:

Bedroom 3: a twin room looking out across the lawn towards the rear of the property, with smart en-suite compact bathroom.

Bedroom 4 is the Master Suite. It is a spacious double bedroom with featured lighting, views of the pool and walk in wardrobes. Screened behind the sleeping area is a designer bathroom with a revitalizing "rain" shower, ambient bath lighting and a large deep bath where two can easily relax.

Bedroom 5 is situated just off the kitchen, and is the smallest twin bedroom with wash-basin, power shower with jets and built-in storage. There are short steps down into this room and the décor is simple - the room is best suited to older children.

Outside:
The house is constructed in an L-shape with patio doors leading from the kitchen, lounge and two of the bedrooms onto a secluded, south-facing decked terrace with kidney-shaped swimming pool. There is an outside dining area with table and chairs for 10 people, and barbecue. The terrace area is a good size - 200m2 (including pool). In summer the dining area is sunny until dusk.

The pool is 6m x 4m, depth ranging 1m - 2m, the deepest point in the centre. It is located in a sun-trap so the average temperature is mid 20s in summer. There is also an external solar-heated shower to rinse off after a swim. With the pool located close to the house adults can supervise children swimming while cooking in the kitchen or barbecue area, or just relaxing on the terrace. A toddler-proof net barrier surrounds the pool and can be removed if required.

At the rear of the house is a small lawn, partially shaded by pine trees, with space for croquet, boules or to kick a football.

There is gated, off-road parking for one car.

The Local Area: Hossegor (4 kms)

Seignosse
Golf: very welcoming clubhouse with a restaurant and bar (serving meals midday-5pm each day) with fabulous views of the course from the terrace. The course hotel serves excellent, more formal à la carte meals in the evening.

Seignosse-Bourg is the nearest centre, 3kms away inland. It is a small Landais village 5 kms from the coast, and offers a bakery, grocers and a couple of local restaurants to choose from. There's also a tennis centre with several good courts.

Two kms to the west is Seignosse-les-Estagnots, a mostly residential area with lovely sandy coastline popular with surfers, and offers the closest beaches.

The local region of Sud Landes is typical Aquitaine - endless stretches of sandy beaches buffeted by the Atlantic ocean, vast pine forests punctuated by the occasional lake and criss-crossed by a network of cycle trails.

Capbreton and Hossegor are neighbouring seaside towns which between them offer an appealing contrast. Hossegor is the more famous, largely through its surfing heritage. It's a 'feelgood' place offering boutique shopping, great bars and restaurants, world-famous surfing beaches, casino, and a lovely golf course and a beautiful lake for safe bathing.

Capbreton lives in the shadow of Hossegor but it's the place the locals prefer for eating out and for beaches. It's definitely the more authentic of the two, largely because of its fishing port and daily fish market. In fact, the town thrived in the 19th century as a whaling port and this sea-faring heritage is still very much apparent today.

It also has a charming town centre and market. Capbreton is just more French than Hossegor, if you see what we mean. It remains, admirably, something of a French (and Spanish) secret.

Capbreton sea-front is a bustling place, day and evening. You can walk all the way along the marina and sea-front. The jetty, known locally as l'estacade, offers excellent coastal views. There's normally a few locals here trying to catch a fish for supper. It makes for great viewing!

Like most of the south west coast, Capbreton-Hossegor is something of an outdoor playground. Take your pick from surfing, canoeing, sailing, diving, fishing, cycling, tennis, horse-riding and golf to name a few. Golfers will enjoy the local course, the 1930s-built Golf d’Hossegor. The traditional club house is also a delight. A short drive up the road is Seignosse, a water and forest monster of a course ranked in Continental Europe’s Top 50. There are other great courses within 45 minutes drive including Moliets and several around Biarritz.

Capbreton regularly holds major surfing competitions; the whole Aquitaine coast is a perfect venue for surfers but at Capbreton the presence of an offshore hollow in the sea-bed gives the waves here that extra edge. If you don't fancy a go yourself, just sit on the sea-front with a drink of your choice and watch the surfers ride to shore.

Cyclists can enjoy the many safe forest tracks that connect between the towns along the coast. Sailing enthusiasts should head for the Capbreton Marina. Being so close to the Pays Basque border, sporting life also includes the legendary game of pelote; you can watch a game at the fronton in Hossegor.

Popular with clients seeking modern-style holiday rental as opposed to 'traditional French'. Clients also like it for being close to the beach and Hossegor but providing a quiet and private place to retreat to.
