Villa park near Arcachon, private pool, on-site tennis, restaurant.
What makes Chateau de Salles Villas a great holiday rental
In our experience, accommodation within holiday parks is often a little on the cramped side - and we don't take the venue on.
The holiday lodges at Chateau de Salles, however, are far more generous - this has helped to explain their popularity over the last few years. Now, the new villas go one step further: these are very spacious and contemporary in design, offering excellent accommodation and a private swimming pool.
What's more, you have access to the park's facilities (tennis, squash, restaurant, etc), the wonderful woodland setting and access to Aquitaine's lakes, vineyards and ocean - you have a great place for a holiday!

Anything to watch out for?
The 'holiday park' concept is different to renting a completely private villa. If complete privacy and independence are critical to you then we would propose an alternative from our private villas with pools collection.
Why Salles?
Situated in the Landes pine forests, inland from Arcachon and Biscarrosse, this area truly evokes the Aquitaine spirit. The fresh scent of the pine trees, the vast lakes, huge sand dunes and rolling surf - you couldn't be anywhere else but Aquitaine!
The local village has the basic shops to help with daily life and the park itself of course has many amenities to keep you there, happy and relaxed all day. You don't have to go far, though, for river-kayaking, horse-riding and cycling.
The more active can take days out by car to the ocean (Biscarrosse or Arcachon), the lakes, the vineyards, the city (Bordeaux) or further south to explore the Basque Country, the Pyrenees and northern Spain. Salles is conveniently situated to explore the region.

The first holiday lodges were built in the early 1990s and recently a handful of excellent villas have been added to the park. The chalets have always been popular because they are very spacious, excellent value and the park is especially relaxing.
The villas are even better - each has its own private pool, attractive gardens and modern & spacious interior.

To get your bearings, Salles is some 50 kms south west of Bordeaux, 35kms south east of Arcachon and about the same distance north east of Biscarrosse.
Salles is a small Girondine town in the Landes forest - a vast pine forest that strecthes to the coast. The village centre is about a 10 minute walk and here you will find the basic shops such as boulangerie and tabac. Arcachon is the nearest main town and is also a major resort with fabulous beaches, shopping and restaurants. The other main destination from Salles is the superb network of lakes in the Biscarrosse area - these are superb for swimming, watersports, picnics and cycle rides.
One of the great attractions of the Salles holiday park is it's size - at 18 ha it does give a feeling of spaciousness > Chateau de Salles site map

Our Personal Highlights
The Local Area: Arcachon (35 kms)
Chateau de Salles is ideally located for indulging in a range of outdoor activities and for day-trips slightly further afield…Bordeaux, St Emilion and the numerous vineyards of the Gironde, for instance.
Salles itself is a pleasant town which provides all the essential local shops plus a bar, a hotel-restaurantand even a cinema!
The nearest ocean beaches can be found at Biscarrosse and Arcachon. There are also plenty of freshwater lakes – with sandy beaches – for safer bathing, watersports and generally relaxing. The lakes of Cazaux et de Sanguinet and Hostens are both only 20 minutes’ drive.
Arcachon is a traditional French resort, known for attractive architecture in its Ville d'Hiver, lovely town walks and a fantastic choice of sea-food restaurants. Ferries run from Arcachon to a host of destinations including Cap Ferret, a stylish resort on the other side of the Bay, and to the beautiful Banc d’Arguin, a sand-bank nature reserve. The Banc d’Arguin sits at the foot of the famous Dune du Pilat which at over 100 metres is the largest sand dune in Europe. A journey to the summit (try it without the staircase provided!) is a must; sunrise and sunset are the best times.
Golfers are spoilt for choice; there are three good courses in the area, (Arcachon, Biscarrosse and Gujan Mestras.
There are numerous cycle tracks and horse-riding centres. The River Leyre runs close by to the chateau and is a popular waterway for canoeing/kayaking - there are canoe hire shops in the town. To try your hand at surfing head to Biscarrosse-Plage or for sailing try Arcachon. For children, Zooland and Aqualand water park are on the road into Arcachon.
If you’re feeling ‘beached out’ why not take the opportunity to explore some of the region’s vineyards, such as Margaux, Lafite, Sauternes or Mouton Rothschild. For guests who really enjoy their wine, we have a local contact who can organise private visits to some of Bordeaux’s finest chateaux; this could be your chance to sample a selection of grand cru wines.
The city centre of Bordeaux is an hour away and is a good option for a day-trip, whether it’s boutique shopping, sight-seeing or culture. St Emilion, a UNESCO world heritage site, is a bit further on and is one of France's most beautiful and historic towns. It gets very busy in summer so for a day-trip it pays to arrive early.
