Villa des Gemmeurs is located on a residential street approx. 500m from the centre of Messanges, a small Landes village with bakery, two restaurants, a surf shop, two public tennis courts (recently resurfaced) and a small supermarket. There is also one restaurant overlooking the beach.

The ocean is 3 kms away by cycle trail. The lovely Léon-to-Hossegor cycle trail passes under 100m from the house. A recent Telegraph article compared Messanges-plage with beaches in the Seychelles and Hawaii! See World's Best Beaches article. Four golf courses are located within 20 minutes drive.

Moliets-Plage is 5 kms away, Hossegor 20 kms, Biarritz approx. 50 kms, San Sebastien 100 kms.

Entrance: There is off-street parking for 3 cars.

Ground floor: The ground floor living space is open plan with a sitting room at one end (2 three-seater settees and cosy log burner), dining area (table & chairs seating 6) in the middle and a large kitchen at the other end. The kitchen has all mod cons including dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, fridge freezer.

Off the living area there is one double bedroom with ensuite shower room, and one twin room with a separate shower room. Both shower rooms have toilets.

Upstairs: Stairs lead up from the dining area to a galleried landing, 3rd bedroom (twin beds) plus bathroom with bath with hand shower. (Another bedroom upstairs is closed off for rentals.)

All bedrooms have fitted cupboards with good storage & hanging space. The décor and furnishings throughout are modern, comfortable and practical for holidays.

Equipment and facilities include: English TV channels (but no French ones), DVD player, stereo with some CDs and a few books. Outside are a swing ball game, boules, gas BBQ, parasol and 2 pool loungers.

Pool & garden: French windows lead from the lounge to the terrace with table & chairs seating 8, plus parasol. The pool is 9m x 4.5m x 1.5m deep, unheated, protected by a removable security cover. The pool is open late May until September. The proximity of the pool to the house means it is not suitable for families with young children (non-swimmers). A good-sized lawn extends beyond the pool and around the size of the house.

In all Villa des Gemmeurs is perfect for an active family wanting a beach holiday in a lovely part of France.
