What makes Côté Océan a great holiday rental

Biscarrosse is a popular resort with the French but we've always struggled to source privately owned properties which offer the right combination on quality of accommodation and location. Côté Océan fills this gap! It's new to the holiday rentals market and offers smart & well-equipped accommodation, a superb balcony, sea views and is just a couple of minutes walk to the beach, shops and restaurants.

Best for:
Families who want a straightforward beach holiday in a 'no frills' resort.

Suitability for:

• Toddlers - outdoor space limited to balcony but beach very close and lake beaches ideal for little ones. Lift in the building, cot & high chair available
• Teenagers - excellent as everything is close by, the resort is lively in summer and has a 'cool' surf culture
• Reduced mobility - not suited

Anything to watch out for?
It's worth highlighting that Biscarrosse Plage is one of Aquitaine's more seasonal resorts and some shops, restaurants and amenities that are open summer will be closed in the shoulder and low seasons.

Why Biscarrosse?
It has fabulous beaches, great for surfing and body-boarding. Also, just a few kms inland and reachable by bike are the vast lakes and pine forests, offering superb watersports, kie trails, picnic areas, etc.

Accommodation

Attractive new apartment with great balcony in complex very close to the beach

Côté Océan is located at Place de l'Ocean, a smart new complex (opened March 2010) very close to the long beach at Biscarrosse. There are lifts to all floors and video-intercom for complete security. The apartment is situated on the first floor and faces west towards the sunsets!

Beneath the apartments and facing the main pedestrian road of Biscarrosse Plage there are shops and a brasserie. These shops all face towards an attractive square with plants and seating areas.

You will be just a stone's throw away from all of the local amenities, restaurants and bars, and the beach!

The apartment is modern, simple and practical with ample space. All fixtures and fittings are new. On entering the apartment you immediately have the feeling of space. The walls are mostly white with stylish pictures dotted around. The white polished tiles make the apartment feel very bright, airy and spacious.

Inside:

Each bedroom has white walls, white floor tiles,a large built-in wardrobe that stretches across the back wall, external metal roller blinds and fitted heater.

Master bedroom - white king-size double bed with matching bedside tables in an attractive modern style. There is also a small dresser opposite the bed which houses a small flat screen television (French TV). A large window offers plenty of light and views of the sea, sandy dunes and a large car park to the left.

Second bedroom - a twin room with two single beds and bedside cabinets with colourful lamps, large built-in wardrobe and again a full, door size window with view of the sea and dunes.

Double bedroom with king-size double bed plus the same facilities and views.

The living room is square and of a good size and very well lit. There are 2 three-seater leather sofas with colourful cushions, a wooden white bench-style table (seats six) and a small child’s table and chair, plus TV and DVD. There is a ‘door sized’ window plus double patio doors which open out onto the large balcony.

From the patio doors you can see the sea.

Leading off of the lounge is the kitchen. The fridge, washing machine, kettle, toaster, cooker & dishwasher are all modern and silver in design. There are modern metal shelves on the wall plus some wooden cupboards. A door leads off of the far end of the kitchen and onto the balcony.

On the opposite side of the hallway the bathrooms can be found:

• WC with basin, white walls attractive and simple unit. 
• Shower room, small but modern & practical. 
• WC - again the décor is white with colourful prints hanging on the wall. 
• Bathroom - spacious with a full sized bath, shower (within the bath unit) and double sink unit.

Outside:

The balcony is one of the big attractions to this apartment. It is spacious, covering 23m2 and runs in an L-shape. It’s a very pleasant view and a quiet area. On the balcony there is a bench-style table and chairs plus six deckchairs and a freestanding hammock. There is also a barbeque.

The underground parking is available to residents and guests only. There is barrier access and the facility is secure for guests' cars – 2 parking spaces are provided with the flat.

Our Personal Highlights

• Climb the Dune de Pilat, and even try a parascending flight to the beach below!
• Boat trips around the Bassin and to Banc d'Arguin.
• The foot-ferry to Cap Ferret, then Le Petit Train trip across the peninsula to the amazing l'Horizon beach, is a delight.
• Try surfing in Biscarrosse-Plage - several schools in the area.
• A picnic by Biscarrosse lac - find a shady spot and enjoy the tranquility

The Local Area: Biscarrosse Plage

There are in fact three Biscarrosses!

• Biscarrosse Plage - which comes to life in summer
• Biscarrosse Lac - the 'natural' part, about 6 kms away
• Biscarrosse Bourg - the small town about 5 kms away

Altogether it's an area of great variety: endless sandy beaches, great surf, forest tracks, lakes and a warm sunny climate. In summer there's a daily market plus night market in Biscarrosse-Plage.

Surfing & body-boarding: excellent waves are found at Biscarrosse Plage and there is a surf club for tuition.

Golfers: the Domaine du Golf is by the lake (18 + 9 holes; the par 68 18 hole course is wooded and tight). Further course at Arcachon.

Forest cycling & hiking: 17 kms of hiking trails and 30 kms of safe forest cycle tracks plus local bike hire shops.

Lake watersports: sailing, windsurfing, water-skiing and kayaking at the local lakes. Port Maguide, 5 kms from the beach, is the local centre for lake activities - boat hire, wind-surfing lessons, etc - and has a man-made beach and Aqua Parc for children.

The local lakes are great opportunity for whiling away the hours in tranquility, listening to the water lapping the sandy shores. The surrounding forest are perfect for picnics and rambling. The three pleasure ports of the Etang de Cazaux et de Sanguinet - Ipses, Navarosse and Port Maguide - each provide a good base for exploring.

Flying: there is an aerodrome at Biscarrosse for fantastic pleasure flights or gliding over the lakes, ocean and forests. Or try your hand at parascending (Port Maguide & Dune de Pyla)

Also available to try locally: fishing, horse-riding, tennis, go-karting quad-biking and adventure park.
