What makes Villa Clara a great holiday rental

Smart, modern accommodation that doesn't break the bank is hard to come by in Biarritz, which is why we are delighted to have found Villa Clara. It is located in the leafy Chiberta district (with its tennis courts & golf course), 200m from the beach, and a short cycle ride into Biarritz.

Best for:
Families or couples looking for a holiday destination with plenty of activities nearby. Short stay rates with breakfast make it a ideal long weekend option too.

Suitability for:

  • Toddlers - stairs & hot tub mean it is not very suitable
  • Teenagers - very good, lots to do nearby
  • Reduced mobility - steps down to the villa, but bedroom and bathroom on ground floor. 

Anything to watch out for?
The villa's location within the Villa Clara site is quite close to the road - it is not particularly busy (used mainly by local traffic) but there is some background noise. The front terrace is overlooked from Villa Clara's main entrance.

Why Biarritz-Chiberta?
There are some immediate attractions within walking distance: Pignada Forest for jogging, cycling, horse-riding and a kids' adventure park; Plage des Cavaliers is a lovely sandy beach on the other side of the dunes; golf and tennis at Chiberta Golf Club, a 10 minute walk; and Atlanthal Thalassotherapy is less than 5 minutes' walk.

Biarritz (4 kms to the centre) is the most famous resort in Aquitaine and offers brilliant surfing, shopping, golf and lots more attractions too. There's also the Chambre d'Amour (2 kms) with several shops, restaurants and lovely promenade..

Accommodation

Comfortable, spacious modern house (120m2) - well-equipped and in great location

Villa Clara is a stylish 'boutique-style' résidence of 23 apartments altogether, comprising studios, one and two bedroom apartments, garden 'suites', as well as two larger properties, a three bedroom apartment and this four bedroom house. (The other apartments can be seen at Villa Clara Biarritz.)

All the apartments have good quality contemporary furnishings, smart bathroom fittings (most with spa baths), modern, neutral décor and very good quality bedding. Although not identical, while we wait for more photos of this property the photos of the other apartments are a good guide to the standard here as well.

A path from Villa Clara's reception leads a few steps down to the spacious front terrace of the house. The terrace extends the width of the property; two sets of French doors lead inside.

Inside - ground floor:

Stylishly furnished living room with three-seater sofa bed, flat screen TV, micro music system.

Dining room with open-plan, fully-equipped kitchen (details opposite), dining table seating 8.

Double bedroom with king-size bed (180 cm) and small office area; bathroom with twin basisn & spa bath; WC.

Inside - upstairs

One double bedroom (160 cm), plus two twin bedrooms (2 x 100 cm single beds each). Shower room, with basin & WC.

Outside

Low-walled terrace overlooking an area of lawn with outdoor dining area (table seating 6), with steps down to a further, more private area with hot tub.

Overall this is contermporary, well-equipped accommodation in a fantastic area for an active holiday.

Villa Clara is located in the Chiberta district, a leafy residential area of Biarritz 4 kms from the centre, just 200m from the beach. It is just a short cycle ride into the centre of Biarritz; a shuttle bus service runs in summer. There are lots of activities nearby (surf, spa, tennis, golf to name a few). This south western corner of France is known for its beaches, lovely climate and distinctive French-Spanish cuisine. Biarritz is well served by trains and planes.

Biarritz
After the wilderness years of the 1980s, this town is back in fashion. Celebrities and sports stars are flooding back to live in the region, turning their back on the Côte d'Azur. Biarritz is an eclectic place; it somehow manages to mix an affluent elderly population with a steady flow of well-dressed surfers plus a sprinkling of super-rich jetsetters on top. A compact and stylish town, Biarritz really does have something for everyone...famous beaches, museums, fine restaurants, boutiques, casino, golf courses, horse-riding and the south west's famous spa and thalassotherapy centres.
