In our opinion

What makes Cabane d'Ispe a great holiday rental
Cabane d'Ispe is hidden in the forest by Biscarrosse lake, truly away from it all. Raised on stilts with a balcony overloooking the forest, private hot-tub, and high quality, cosy interior, it's a lovely romantic getaway.

What's more there is direct access to the lake shore 100m away, a stand-up paddle board or kayak to use, golf 500m away, and just a short trip to the Atlantic beaches, Dune de Pyla, Arcachon & Cap Ferret.

Best for:
This is an absolute gem for couples who want the comfort of a luxury boutique hotel, with freedom and privacy of their own space. Short stays (min. two nights) are available too.

Suitability for:
Cabane du Lac is really just for couples.

Anything to watch out for?
No oven in the kitchenette; no washing machine (but there is a laundry in Biscarrosse-bourg); no TV nor wifi - so you can log off for a few days!

Why Biscarrosse?
Biscarrosse is an area of great variety: endless sandy beaches, great surf, forest tracks, lakes and a warm sunny climate. In summer there's a daily market plus night market in Biscarrosse-Plage. There is golf on your doorstep, forest cycling & hiking trails, sailing, windsurfing, water-skiing and kayaking. Arcachon & Cap Ferret are a short drive away.

Chic, cosy & contemporary chalet with hot tub

Cabane d'Ispe is one of two luxury cabins-in-stilts created by the owners Carole & Pascal, located at the end of a track 100m from the shore of Biscarrosse lake. (The other is Cabane du Lac.) You feel truly hidden in the forest. Nature has been respected and the chalets are built around the trees, including ones that come up through the middle of the terrace, tree-house style.

The Cabane is situated on a sandy slope, and has its own parking bay with room for two cars. Wooden steps lead up to the balcony and accommodation (30m2 inside altogether). Although smaller than its near-neighbour, the layout, glass & light, and views over the forest means it does not feel cramped or enclosed.

Entrance & living area:
Underfoot-lit steps lead up to the terrace which takes you around the side of the property and to the rear where you find the main terrace.

On entering through the patio doors you first come to the kitchen-living area, comprising a small open-plan kitchen high level table & stools. To the right is the wood burner and sitting  area, beyond this to the left is the sleeping area (separated by a wooden screen).

The lounge area contains 2 high quality leather armchairs and several pieces produced by a local artist. Theer are two small tables made from branches of wood enclosed in a frame (with a similar style piece above the bed). It is a relaxing corner with attractive views from each of the large windows, including a "peek" of the lake in the background.

On the left of the kitchen is the bathroom, tastefully lit, and comprising modern twin basins, a high quality walk-in shower with glass door and a separate wc.  All the hotel trimmings are there with the embroided logo on the towels, bathrobes etc. Soaps and carefully folded loo paper! It is clear great care is taken to prepare everything perfectly.

Sleeping area:

The sleeping area is cosy & luxurious. There is a large double bed with high quality bedding, and two wall-mounted reading lights. The double patio doors next to the bed are hung with quality curtains, and open on to the terrace giving beautiful views of the forest. A wardrobe provides plenty of storage space. Small glass lamps are dotted around which give a delicate candle effect at night.

Terrace & hot tub

The terrace for Cabane d'Ispe is the larger of the two, 45m2 altogether. It faces the forest on two sides, and is completely private. The hot-tub is sunken into the terrace - perfect for enjoying the bubbles, glass of wine in hand, whilst taking in the views of the forest.

There are 2 low level relaxers & 2 chairs & a table. There are also other furnishings which are brought out in the summer. The terrace is has an outdoor heater, and a pulley-system - this is where a basket is attached with your breakfast in the morning, and the Sud Ouest newspaper so you can check the weather forecast...

Great destination with lots to nearby to explore. We particularly liked Bayonne, which is even closer to Ondres than Biarritz.

Lively, sophisticated town which has everything. Beach, shopping, nightlife for the teenagers, surfing and a bit of culture.

wonderful look forward to revisiting again and again
